Overview

Every organisation needs technical support workers to keep their business humming – and in New Zealand they’re in short supply. Learn to install I.T hardware and systems software, and build your operational knowledge of networking, database administration and I.T service management. Tackle troubleshooting, problem solving and interface design and learn how to create basic computer applications. Plus, you’ll hone your communication skills, and gain an understanding of professional, legal and ethical principles and practices in New Zealand’s I.T sector.

On completion of this programme graduates will apply the transferable skills and knowledge gained to provide high quality information technology support that meets an organisation’s needs in roles such as computer technician, help desk and technical support officer, entry-level network administrator, network engineer, and/or applications support analyst roles.

To enter this course, you will need:

  • Applicants must be 17 years of age or over and will be eligible on the basis of meeting the requirements below.

Academic Requirements:

  • NCEA Level 2 or Level 3 (with University Entrance); or
  • provide evidence of achievement at an equivalent level; or
  • a qualification in Computing, Information Technology or Digital Technology at Level 3 or 4; or
  • an equivalent qualification in Computing, Information Technology or Digital Technology.

English language requirement

  • IELTS
    provide evidence of an IELTS overall band score of at least 5.5 (Academic), with no individual band less than 5.0
  • Pearson Academic Test
    have a Pearson Academic Test score of 42 and above with no individual band score less than 36
  • LanguageCert
    have a B2 Communicator Test HIGH PASS and above with no less than a pass in each skill
