Overview

Want an awesome job as an entry or mid-level hospitality manager? Or looking to start your own hospitality business? This hands-on programme will give you a leading edge! Learn how to manage and develop staff, analyse and boost financial performance, drive sales and achieve success in this fast-paced industry. Hone your communications and leadership skills and understand  the issues facing New Zealand’s hospitality industry.

Core modules

You will need to complete all of the following papers:

  • Managing and developing staff
  • Hospitality business performance
  • Operational management in a changing environment
  • Hospitality product development
  • Communication and leadership in the hospitality sector
  • Facilities planning and management
  • Innovation and hospitality sales
  • Issues in hospitality management

On completion of this programme, graduates of this Diploma will have the skills and knowledge to provide management across a range of hospitality operations.  This course will give you the skills and standards of professional practice to instill confidence in customers in a range of hospitality environments. You will be able to work unsupervised in any hospitality management role.

Students must complete the NZ Diploma in Hospitality Management Level 5 or an equivalent qualification, or have prior work experience in a relevant field before joining this course.

International students

If you are coming from overseas, to be eligible for this course you must be 18 years of age or older

English language requirement

  • IELTS
    provide evidence of an IELTS overall band score of at least 6.0 (Academic), with no individual band less than 5.5
  • Pearson Academic Test
    have a Pearson Academic Test score of 50 and above with no individual band score no less than 42
  • LanguageCert
    have a C1 Expert test PASS and above with no less than a pass in each skill
