Support for life
You're a student for a lifetime. Come back for career advice whenever you're ready for your next challenge.
Aspire2 Work offers support, not a job guarantee. We can't guarantee employment, a particular job title or level of pay.
Your path to work
Your career support starts before your first class and carries on long after graduation.
When you arrive
Orientation introduces you to study and life in New Zealand, including your rights at work. Then Aspire2 Plus runs all year, with industry speakers, CV and cover letter help and interview practice.
While you study
Build real skills through practical projects, join Aspire2 Plus industry sessions and start working on your CV. If your student visa includes work rights, you may be able to work up to 25 hours a week during term.
As you finish
Our team helps you search for roles, tailor your applications and prepare for interviews.
After you graduate
Eligible graduates may be able to apply for a work visa after completing their qualification. And whenever you're ready for something new, our door stays open.
What could you earn?
IT skills are in demand in New Zealand (see why). Here's what people working in careers related to each of our courses earn, from those just starting out to very experienced specialists.
| Course | Related career | Starting out | Most common | Very experienced |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Level 5 Infrastructure & Technical Support | IT helpdesk and support technician | $50K | $61K–$97K | $131K |
| Level 5 Applied Digital Technologies | Business analyst (a common next step with experience) | $71K | $85K–$110K | $130K |
| Level 5 Software Development | Web developer | $52K | $69K–$121K | $150K |
| Level 6 Cybersecurity | Information security analyst | $59K | $81K–$157K | $210K |
About these figures: Pay ranges are yearly, before tax, in New Zealand dollars, and come from Tahatū, the New Zealand Government's careers service (formerly Careers NZ). They show pay for everyone working in each occupation, not just new graduates. Most graduates start at the lower end, and pay depends on your role, employer, location, experience and qualifications. Some careers, such as business analyst, usually need further experience. Aspire2 cannot guarantee employment or any level of pay.
