Key information for international students

We want your move to Auckland to feel smooth and stress-free. Here's exactly what you need to know about visas, work rights, accommodation, insurance, fees and arrival.

Student visas

You must hold an appropriate visa that allows you to study in New Zealand and follow its conditions throughout your enrolment. Once you receive your Offer of Place, apply as early as possible. You may need evidence of your offer, tuition fees, living costs and insurance. Aspire2 cannot determine or guarantee visa approval. Check current requirements with Immigration New Zealand.

Working while studying

If your student visa includes work rights, you may be able to work up to 25 hours per week while studying full-time, and full-time during eligible scheduled holidays. Your work rights are recorded on your eVisa and determined by Immigration New Zealand. Aspire2 Work can provide CV support, job-search guidance and interview preparation. More about working while you study.

Working after study

Eligible graduates may be able to apply for a work visa after completing their qualification. From 16 November 2026, the Short-term Graduate Work Visa will provide eligible Level 5–7 graduates with six months of open work rights. Eligibility conditions apply. Aspire2 cannot guarantee a work visa, employment, sponsorship or residence. Check current information with Immigration New Zealand.

Airport pickup and accommodation

Aspire2 provides airport pickup when you arrive and two weeks of complimentary accommodation while you settle in. For longer-term living, Auckland offers shared flats, homestays, student accommodation and serviced apartments at a range of prices, and we can guide you on your options. Before signing an agreement, check your rights at Tenancy Services.

Living costs

Immigration New Zealand currently requires tertiary students to show they have NZ$20,000 for each year of study, or NZ$1,667 per month for courses shorter than one year. Your actual costs will depend on your accommodation, transport and lifestyle. Use Sorted to plan your budget.

Healthcare and insurance

You must have appropriate health and travel insurance for the full duration of your enrolment. Most international students are not eligible for publicly funded healthcare and may need to pay the full cost of treatment. Aspire2 can arrange OrbitProtect insurance, or you can provide evidence of another approved policy. ACC may cover accidental injuries but not illness or general medical care. Read more about healthcare for international students.

Tuition fee protection

Your tuition fees are protected through the Public Trust Fee Protect scheme. This protects fees paid in advance if Aspire2 is unable to complete the delivery of your programme. Learn more at Fee Protect.

Withdrawing from study

If you decide to leave your programme, you must complete Aspire2's formal withdrawal process. Whether you receive a refund will depend on your circumstances and the applicable refund provisions. Refer to the Student Handbook for full details.

If your visa is declined

Contact Aspire2 as soon as possible and provide an official letter from Immigration New Zealand confirming the decline. If your visa is not granted before or within the first 10 working days of the start date, you'll receive a full refund of all fees paid, less a deduction of 10% up to a maximum of $500. See all refund conditions.

Credit for prior learning

Previous tertiary study or relevant work experience may count towards your qualification through credit transfer or recognition of prior learning. This could reduce the study required to complete your programme. Speak with us to have your learning and experience assessed.

Student support

Aspire2 provides academic, wellbeing and practical support throughout your studies. You can speak with our team about your learning, personal wellbeing or adjusting to life in New Zealand. Aspire2 follows the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021. Staying safe and well.

Before you travel

Accept your Offer of Place and follow the payment instructions. Apply for your student visa as early as possible. Confirm your insurance and Auckland accommodation. Book your flights and send us your arrival details at least two weeks before you travel so we can arrange your airport pickup and arrival accommodation. Bring your passport, visa, enrolment and insurance documents, and check the date of your compulsory orientation.

Student orientation

Orientation is your first two days with us. You'll meet the team and your classmates, collect your complimentary laptop and SIM card, and learn how study and life in Auckland work, including safety, insurance, banking and your rights and responsibilities. Attendance is required to complete your enrolment. See the orientation programme.

Aspire2 Plus

All year, alongside your classes, Aspire2 Plus helps you build your career, make friends and enjoy life in New Zealand, with industry speakers, CV and interview practice, hackathons and social events. See what's on.

NZQA-registered provider

Aspire2's IT and Cybersecurity programmes are delivered by Aspire2 Education Limited, an NZQA-registered Private Training Establishment. NZQA reviews registered providers to assess their educational performance and ability to monitor and improve their work.

Important: Immigration requirements can change. Aspire2 can provide information about studying with us but cannot guarantee visa approval, work rights, employment, sponsorship or residence. Always check current requirements with Immigration New Zealand before making study, travel or financial decisions.
